Health Minister Annette King will be involved in two World Smokefree Day activities tomorrow, May 31. Both events will
occur in her office on the 18th floor of Bowen House.
5pm: Minister will meet 6 students who attended a youth hui at Piritahi Marae on Waiheke Island on May 4. The students,
from Tamaki College, Hato Petera College, St Stephen's College, Queen Victoria College and Waiheke High School, will
present the hui's findings to the Minister, concentrating on youth-identified and driven initiatives.
5.30pm: Two students of Feilding Agricultural College, Glen Thomson and Nick Ferguson, will visit the Minister to play
their national prize-winning entry in the national radio commercial script writing competition for third and fourth
formers. The theme for the commercials was the WHO slogan, "Tobacco kills --- don't be duped". This was adapted to
"Sucked in --- Kai Tai". The two successful students will also hand over all the other commercials entered in the
competition.
NB The two events will almost inevitably run into each other, and both sets of students will be in the office together
about 5.30.
