The Government is getting stung by the adverse reaction to its legislative programme, ACT leader Richard Prebble said
today.
“The coalition has already seen a hugely unfavourable reaction to the ACC changes, and now they are feeling the backlash
of the Employment Relations Bill,” Mr Prebble said after speaking to 40 people at a breakfast seminar against the Bill
in Dunedin today.
“Employers are getting angry, the National Bank and NZIER surveys show business confidence is in free-fall, and here’s
Helen Clark pretending everything is OK. It’s not OK, and we are already seeing that in submissions we are receiving on
the Bill.”
“Employers are only just beginning to realise this Bill is not a modification to the Employment Contracts Act, but a
radical, totally new labour relations system. We only have until May 3 to get employers to make submissions opposing
this Bill, so these meetings we are hosting around New Zealand are very important for employers,” Mr Prebble said.
Mr Prebble said time was running out for businesses to act against the Bill, and anyone wanting to make a submission
