Protests over ERMA hearing into GE Sheep
Protests will be held outside the offices of the Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA) tomorrow (Thursday) over
an application by AgResearch to genetically engineer sheep to make them produce more muscle.
The Green Party will be making a submission opposing the application. The Greens will be represented by legal counsel
Tom Bennion and Green MP Sue Kedgley will address the hearing at approximately 11am.
The first protest will begin outside ERMA on the corners of Customhouse Quay and Waring Taylor Street at 9am. Green MP
Sue Kedgley will be making a speech. A candle light vigil will begin at 7pm.
The protest has been organised and will be attended by the Green Party, GE Free New Zealand, Soil and Health, ECO,
Friends of the Earth, the Safe Food Campaign and the Pacific Institute of Resource Management.
