The Prime Minister should sack Rodney Wilson from the Te Papa review to prove to New Zealanders that she has an open
mind on the future of the National Museum, Opposition Leader Jenny Shipley said in Parliament today.
"It is untenable to have Rodney Wilson on the review when he has already made his position so clear," Mrs Shipley said.
"He has described Te Papa as a glitzy expo which assaults the senses; that the Government got it wrong when establishing
Te Papa; and that Auckland not Wellington should have the National Museum.
"The Prime Minister can clear this matter up by dumping Wilson from the review and demonstrating that she has a open
mind, that she is not being just elitist or whipping up a pro-Auckland, anti-Wellington fight.
"As it is, Helen Clark looks as if she has already made up her mind on re-directing Te Papa down a different path and is
using a so-called review to give her the answers she wants," Mrs Shipley said.
