Helen Clark has insulted New Zealanders with her admission that she has launched her tirade against Te Papa without even
visiting the place since she became Prime Minister or Minister for Arts Culture and Heritage, Opposition Leader Jenny
Shipley said.
"Miss Clark added insult to injury with her inference in the House today that she would only bother to visit Te Papa if
she had some spare time," Mrs Shipley said.
"Helen's arrogance knows no bounds. Not only does she believe she knows best, but she even believes she knows best
without visiting the place as Minister.
"When I asked her if she had ever accepted an invitation by the Board, the Director or other professionals associated
with the museum to visit and discuss issues of interest, she could do nothing but bluster.
"It's been apparent for a while that Helen Clark doesn't care what ordinary New Zealanders think about Te Papa.
"Now it's also evident that she doesn't care about what Te Papa's people think," Mrs Shipley said.
