MAKE NEW ZEALAND’S SECURITY AN “ACT FREE” ZONE
New Zealand First is opposing the nomination of the ACT leader, Richard Prebble, to Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee.
Mr Prebble has been nominated by the National Leader, Jenny Shipley.
Rt Hon Winston Peters said this evening that Mr Prebble should not be considered for the Committee because of his openly “pro-foreign” stance over economic matters.
“We need patriots on such an important Committee, not politicians who give the impression that they are more concerned about overseas business interests.
“New Zealand has already lost most of its economic sovereignty because of the sale of taxpayer owned assets by Mr Prebble and other politicians of his ilk.
“As well, only recently he publicly advocated that New Zealand adopt the United States currency.
“We need people who will act in New Zealand’s interests on this committee – not representatives who don’t know where their interests lie,” said Mr Peters.
