Telstra-Saturn moves good news for New Zealanders
“The Telstra-Saturn link up announced today is good news for New Zealanders,” Opposition Communications spokesperson Lockwood Smith said today.
“The competition that Telstra and Saturn will bring to the New Zealand telecommunications market is welcome.
“The extra $1 billion investment announced today must also mean more jobs for New Zealanders. It demonstrates the vital importance of private sector investment in infrastructure than can be the platform for a more innovative knowledge based economy.
“The joint venture promises more than just telephone lines. Telstra and Saturn are promising to expand the network and develop new services. This will mean high speed internet access and a whole new range of options in television viewing for the majority of New Zealand families.
“It is very positive to see Telstra and Saturn making this major long-term commitment to invest in New Zealand for the benefit of New Zealanders.”
