Achievers Last for Labour/Alliance
“The Labour/Alliance government clearly dislikes high achievers,” said Epsom MP Richard Worth today “Axing the highly
successful TIE scheme, which provided funding for children to attend private schools, is a indication of how Labour
intends to treat people and communities who work hard and succeed.”
“The scheme received high praise from both families and schools. Participating families applied to be on the scheme and
it allowed children to have broader experiences and build relationships across wider networks in our communities.
“The only reason for axing the TIE scheme is Labour’s ideological passion for mediocrity. Other schools can receive more
funding without taking this opportunity away from achievers.
“The National government was committed to increasing education places in Epsom. I hope this action doesn’t mean that
Labour intends to curtail educational opportunities for other Epsom children.”
