Government shortsighted over future of superannuation
“Scrapping the independent Superannuation Taskforce in a month’s time is shortsighted,” Opposition Superannuation spokesperson Simon Upton said today.
“It makes no sense at all to remove the only independent mechanism to explore the facts on superannuation on an impartial basis.
”The country faces big challenges in superannuation. Political parties don’t have all the answers.
“The Taskforce was set up to find a non-partisan long term durable solutions to our superannuation problems.
“There are calls from all sectors of the community for superannuation to be removed from the political arena. The Government is foolish to ignore them and is about to repeat all the mistakes of the past.”
