Media Release -- Justice
ACT Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide today said that Minister for Auckland Issues
Judith Tizard was dead wrong to be attacking Metrowater and calling them thugs
simply because they are trying to get everyone to pay their share of the cost
of providing water.
"We now have a Minister following Nandor Tanczos' lead and saying that you only
need obey the laws you agree with.
"This is crazy stuff. A lot of people don't agree with the government's move
to up tax rates but Judith Tizard would have no sympathy for taxpayers refusing
to pay it.
"Prime Minister Helen Clark must reign Judith Tizard in and make it plain that
the new Government does indeed stand for the rule of law," said Rodney Hide.
