INDIAN HIJACKING: A team of Indian negotiators are continuing negotiations with a group of hijackers who are in
Kandahar. The arrival of the negotiators from India appears to have pleased the hijackers. India’s government have
promised not to bow to threats.
PATIENT MISSING: Police are looking for another mental patient who has gone missing from the Mason Clinic in Auckland.
JUDGES OVERPAID: The Department of Courts has asked several judges to pay back wages paid in error. The confusion arose
over when a pay increase came into force.
LYTELLTON PICKET: A union has asked whether an employment contract remains in force after non-union labour has started
to work on loading coal. Workers are picketing the port.
EUROPE STORMS: A major cleanup is underway across Europe after some of the worst storms in living memory. The death toll
is now thought to be 87. Another storm has claimed several lives in Spain.
FRENCH OIL SPILL: The Oil Spill off the coast of France has reached the coastline fouling kilometres of coastline. More
than 10,000 birds have been affected by the spill.
AVIATION FUEL: Several aviation fuel stations have reopened after test results have cleared their supplies of
contaminations.
RUSSIAN DEPORTEE: A Russian man who has arrived back in NZ after being deported is appealing to the refugee appeal
authority to be declared a stateless person.
JENNIFER LOPEZ: Police in New York have dropped charges against singer Jennifer Lopez following a shooting in a NY
nightclub.
