TERTIARY EDUCATION: New Minister of Educations Steve Maharey says the competitive market experiment in Tertiary Education is over. He says the govenrmemt will fund specialities in institutions.
HOME INVASION RAPE: Rape Crisis says that longer sentences for rape in the home could make victims more at risk as offenders.
CHECHNYA: Chechen Rebels have killed more than 100 Russians in Grozny but Russia is denying the reports,
JAMES BULGER: The European Court of Human Rights says the sentences given to two boys who killed the toddler James Bulger breached their human rights.and that the boys were not given a fair trial.
ISRAEL AND SYRIA: Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara says that talks in Washington on a Syrian/Israeli peace deal have gone well. The talks finish later today.
BODY IDENTIFIED: Body of Colin Good formally identified. Mr Good was found dead on an island and police still want to know more about how he died.
