1. TRIPLE MURDER - A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the triple murder in Rawene, Northland. He is accused of killing two infants and man who came to their aid and also another charge of attempted murder. The small town is in shock.
2. CHARITY AUCTION - The family of another murder victim have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community. The 40 year old security guard was bashed to death and his family have been given $70,000 from around the country and an auction today raised more.
3. FIRE A smoke alarm and 85 year old are being credited with saving the residents of an inner city tower block which caught on fire in Wellington.
4. LUCKY ESCAPE - A women had a lucky escape after her car ran off the road trapping her inside. It was 24 hours before she was found.
5. RUSSIA - European leaders have criticised Russia as it continues its attacks on Chechnya.
6. ALCOHOL - There has been a remarkable turn around in alcohol related fatal car crashes. There have been none in recent months after aggressive campaigns. Nationwide numbers are down as well.
7. FLOODING CLEAN UP - It has become a race against time to clean up Queenstown from flooding before the summer holiday period.
