VEHICLES: More than 30 substandard commercial vehicles have been ordered off Auckland roads, including a school bus, as part of a crackdown.
DOCTORS: Free doctors visits for children under nine is a feature of NZ Firsts health policy launched today.
COSTINGS: Labour’s long awaited costings for its promises will be released today. National has estimated it will cost $1.6 billion.
OHAKUNE TRIAL: The trial of a Ohakune man after an aggravated burglary last year in under way.
POLITICIANS: Electioneering and exagerating politicians have been blamed by academics for the public fear of violent attacks in the home which have not increased over the last two years.
PI MPS: Two Pacific Island MPs from opposite sides of the House have called for immigration law reform and greater flexibility on a case by case basis.
ALL BLACKS: The All Blacks are home but John Hart has defended his sides performance this year. He says the team is hurt by allegations they didn’t play with pride and passion.
SOCIAL SERVICES: The Minister for Social Services says it was better that a child be placed with his sister who has just been released from prison is better than him being placed with people with whom he does not want to live.
CENTREPOINT: The founder of the Centrepoint community Bert Potter has denied breaching his parole conditions after it was alleged he was seen coming out of a room with a naked child.
NURSES: Nurses at Wairarapa Health say they will be striking tomorrow and probably Thursday as well.
SCHOOL: A Wellington School for teenage parents has been denied a $220,000 grant by the Education Ministry for an early childcare centre near the school to aid the study of parents. The Ministry says there is not enough money to go around and two other schools have higher priorities.
DENTAL: The Dental Association says a new sweet that does not cause decay has potential benefits for child dental care. Instead of sugar the sweet uses manuka honey.
