Dark Day For Rugby - Home Invasion Arrest - Australian Republic Referendum
1. DARK DAY FOR RUGBY - The All Black loss against South Africa now has speculation that coach John Hart is expected to announce within hours that he will be stepping down and will not be seeking reselection as coach. Hart has been under pressure since the earlier loss to France. Commentators describe the All Black performance as one of the most error-ridden, uncoordinated displays in All Black memory. Even politicians have got into the act. Meanwhile Jonah Lomu is expected to announce he will be staying with the All Blacks and will sign a further two-year contract. Viewers describe the outcome of today's match as like watching Princess Diana's funeral all over again.
2. HOME INVASION ARREST - Public disgust has helped police to make an early arrest in a Rotorua home invasion. Damien Mahey has been arrested. Police have praised the people of Rotorua for their prompt action in helping them make an early arrest. Police say they have been swamped with information following the bashing of 64-year old Mr Bentley.
3. AUSTRALIAN REPUBLIC REFERENDUM - Voting has commenced in the referendum over whether Australia should become a Republic. Sailors at the America's Cup village have cast their vote along with other resident's living overseas. Polls show a narrow victory to the monarchist's meaning Australia is likely to stay with the Queen. While most Australia's don't want the Queen as Head of State they don't want a new President elected by politicians either.
