WWI PARDONS DENIED: Mark Peck says he will continue to fight for a pardon for five soldiers executed during WWI. A
report has said that there was not a miscarriage of justice.
EAST TIMOR TROOPS FAREWELLED: The Governor General has farewelled another 126 soldiers to Australia and East Timor. The
GG said they had the support of all NZers.
SWEAT SHOP: The operators of factory accused of being a sweat shop are avoiding the media today. The factory is locked
and noone is opening the door. Police and Labour Dept are investigating.
PAKISTAN COUP: Pakistan’s military has imposed martial law – defying the international community. The coup leaders say
the Army chief will become the chief of the country.
NAPIER AND HASTINGS: The amalgamation of Napier and Hastings council’s moves a step closer today. Voting on the issue
begins today with the distribution of voting papers. Over 50% in both cities need to be in favour.
