AUSTRALIA IN TIMOR: Australian soldiers flew into East Timor at sunrise. The first of the NZ troops have left Ohakea Air Base, to join them after training in Darwin.
STENT: Health and Disabilities Commissioner Robin Stent has advised Health Care Otago to apologise to the family of ex-patient Gareth Smithers for failing to provide adequate care. Smithers killed his partner Karen Jacobs while a patient of Health Care Otago.
TAX POLICY: The government has released two discussion papers aimed at simplifying tax.
ALLIANCE TAX: The Alliance has announced that a new tax would help finance its education policy launched today. The new tax would be on high value commercial property, state sector and residential land being exempt.
