EAST TIMOR - High Risk, Opposition Support - Dili. OTHER NEWS - Ansett Strike - TV Sport Row - Russian Bombing.
EAST TIMOR – HIGH RISK: The government is well aware of the risks they face in East Timor. Jenny Shipley says the risk had to be taken.
EAST TIMOR – OPPOSITION SUPPORT: Opposition parties are expected to join ranks with the government today to support the deployment of peace-keepers to East Timor.
EAST TIMOR – DILI: UN Mission in Dili says army and militias have been systematically looting the city. Some of the 10s of thousands of refugees are dying of starvation.
ANSETT STRIKE: Air New Zealand says many of its peak services are full due to the Ansett strike. Ansett has cancelled another 80 flights today.
TV SPORT: TVNZ says it is seeking legal advice on Sky TV’s decision to sell free-to-air rights to Rugby and Cricket internationals to TV3.
RUSSIAN BOMBING: 17 people have died in another bomb attack in Russia. This is the third bomb attack in a week. More than 300 people have been killed in the bombing campaign.
