EAST TIMOR – UN:After an overnight Security Council meeting the UN has delayed its pull-out from East Timor for 24 hours and has warned of unspecified actions if law and order is not restored.
EAST TIMOR – AUCKLAND: Last minute diplomatic manoeuvres are underway in Auckland before a foreign ministers meeting on the crisis.
EAST TIMOR – EXODUS: Thousands from East Timor have fled to West Timor where the provincial government blames the UN and the referendum for the exodus.
LOTTO TRAVEL: Internal Affairs Minister Jack Elder will investigate how Lotteries Commission staff flew to Europe on business class.
PETROL PRICES: Mobil put up petrol prices by another 2.5 cents from midnight. AA warns that others may follow. BP Caltex and Shell all say they will review their prices.
NAVY EXERCISES: The Navy wanted to use Northland waters as a firing range but has now changed its mind.
