QUAKE: The Turkish earthquake has killed over 2,000 people and displaced tens of thousands. Several cities are disaster zones, hospitals are overflowing and emergency services can’t cope. The NZ government has donated $250,000 in aid.
WHITE ISLAND/SAN FRANCISCO: A small tremour was felt on White Island today. No damage was done. Also a quake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale was felt in a 15 second shake in San Francisco today. Windows broke and items fell off supermarket shelves.
NATIONAL: The National government launched the start of their election campaign today with their 5 steps campaign to boost the knowledge economy. The campaign involves developing links between education, business and research. All other political parties are unimpressed.
EDUCATION: Teachers and students are also unimpressed at 5 Steps saying it fails to address the issues of student debt, fees and the loan scheme.
