PETROL: Petrol prices look set to increase across the board by another three cents per litre and there are fears this will impact on inflation.
TORNADO: A freak tornado filled at least one person and injured hundreds when it ripped through Salt Lake City at lunch time today.
US SHOOTING: The man who injured five people with an uzi at a Jewish day care centre gave himself up to Las Vegas police. He is an avowed white supremacist and will be charged with five counts of attempted murder.
TELECOM: Telecom has a new chief executive, Theresa Gattung.
MASSAGE?: A car dealer has claimed tax back from hiring prostitutes as a bonus to people buying cars. The Motor Vehicle Dealer Institute is investigating.
CONCERT: Christchurch City Council is spending $500,000 on a free millennium concert at Hadlee Park, featuring Dave Dobyn among others.
KIRI: Kiri Te Kanawa is yet to hear from the Gisborne Council about rumours she may still perform there at the end of the year, courtesy of the government.
FEES: David Bowie was to be paid $1.7 million dollars to perform at the defunct Gisborne show, Kiri Te Kanawa $375,000 and Split Enz $1 million. They all received non refundable payments of between $100,000 and $200,000.
