POLICE SHOOTING: For the second time in two months the Police have shot an offender. At 10.30 am this morning police
were called to a domestic incident. The man had a baby and he handed it over. After 20minutes of talking the man walked
towards an officer with a knife. The man was coming down the stairs when he was shot. Neighbour heard the shot. The
bullet passed right through him. In July a man was shot dead by police after pointing a replica at a man following a
high speed chase. Six police officers are undergoing trauma counciling.
GISBORNE CONCERT: Organisers of Gisborne's millennium concert have confirmed they haven't got enough money to carry on.
If they can't find a backer they will leave people with non-refundable deposits out of pocket. The organisers are
believed to be talking to TVNZ about possible backing. Prices have dropped from $400 to $150. Gisborne thinks a lot of
people will still come to Gisborne anyway.
RIDE OF HER LIFE: A woman got the ride of her life on the bonnet of her car in Christchurch after a thief stole it. The
woman hoped the thief would stop as she clung to the bonnet. Jenny King is amazed about the audacity of the thief. He
first asked for a newspaper and then stole the car from a driveway. After careering around several blocks she eventually
let go.
CANTERBURY CHICKEN SMASH: Fatal car crash in Canterbury may have been more than an accident. A truck driver reported
that a man later killed - with a mother of two - in a head-on collision had been playing high speed chicken. Police want
to hear from people who saw a blue Telstar driving erratically.
ASSASSINATION: A Second Samoan politician has been charged with the murder of the Public Works Minister last month.
Arthur Anae says Samoan's here are disturbed and searching for answers. "Someone has had their pride hurt and this is
how they have retaliated.
TARARUA MURDER: Police are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the murder of Wellington man Terry King
found in the Tararua ranges.
