- LEGAL AID: A cap is to be placed on the legal aid budget. The Minister of Justice says there are problems with the existing system - the government also intends;
- MAGIC MUSSELS: The Mussel extract Lyprinol is to have its labeling closely monitored by the Ministry of Health - it is not allowed to claim health benefits which are not yet demonstrated an officials says.
- KOSOVO: A powerful explosion has shaken central Pristina, Kosovo. Peace-keeping force has had to reestablish law and order in Kosovo;
- WAIRARAPA ACCIDENT: Three teenagers killed in an accident in South Wairarapa had been at a party - three more are in hospital in a critical condition.
- POSSUM PILL: Landcare research has discovered an effective contraceptive for possums. Now it has been found the results are looking positive a scientist says but any use for the research is 5 to 10 years away.
- MOON CRASH: Nasa says its spaceship has crashed into a dark crater but no water has been detected yet. A scientist says the experiment has been a "bit of a disappointment".
