1. KIWI INJURED IN SWITZERLAND: A NZer has been injured in a canyon trek in Switzerland in which several others died - Wellington man Terry Hall says his son John was injured in the accident that involved a flash-flood in a canyon.
2. LIQUOR IN PARLIAMENT: Fierce difference of opinion in Parliament on drinking age. MPs face pressures from all sides on drinking age. Labour's justice spokesman Phil Goff says that lowering the drinking age will lead to more teenage drinking and more road deaths. Patricia Schnauer disagrees and says 18-year-olds can vote and go to war so why not drink?
3. GANGS AND DRUGS: Police commissioner Peter Doone says extra resources are going into policing gangs who are dominating the hard drug trade. "We know much more about what they are doing these days," he says.
4. TELECOM KIWISHARE: Telecom says it is standing by legal advice that its surcharge on lines used for heavy internet usage is not breaching the Kiwishare agreement. Telecom says internet usage is no-longer "ordinary" according to a legal expert.
5. COOK ISLANDS: Change of government seems likely in the Cook Islands. Three members of the ruling Cook Islands Party have agreed to form a coalition with an opposition party the DAP.
6. PETROL PRICES: Shell maybe alone in raising its petrol prices by 3 cents a litre. It is possible Shell may be put under pressure to reduce its prices. Two years ago Caltex raised prices and then backed out two weeks later.
