RED CROSS HOSTAGE: The NZ Red Cross said they knew three weeks ago that a kidnapped Kiwi was alive in Russia but kept it
quiet until he was released today.
WINZ: WINZ is tring to set up another disciplinary meeting with a suspended manager after they refused to turn up to
answer questions over aircraft charters because the hearing was being conducted by WINZ chief executive Christine
Rankin.
WTO JOB: Mike Moore is refusing to comment after the WTO General Council informally agreed to a job sharing arrangement
between Moore and Thailand’s Dr Supachai. The WTO is expected to confirm on Thursday that Mike Moore will take the first
three year stint in the job starting in September.
WHANGAREI NATS: Problems in the Whangarei branch of the National Party will help NZ First’s chances of getting back to
Parliament. There is dissatisfaction with the new National candidate who will take John Banks’ place and three local
members have resigned. Last year NZ First’s Brian Donnely came close to unseating Banks and NZ First will now be
fancying their chances of winning the seat.
