HNZ PROTESTOR: A 64 year old rent striker in a Housing New Zealand flat was evicted today after he locked himself inside for 45 days in protest against government market rent housing policies.
TELECOM CASE: A Disputes Tribunal has ruled that Telecom must reimburse $19.50 to a man who has that sum left on a telecom phone card which is being phased out.
PETROL HIKE: Petrol stations have increased petro prices by three cents per litre in response to rising crude oil prices of up to 60 per cent in the last six months.
WATSON TRIAL: A woman told how Watson grabbed her breast at Furneaux Lodge and another said he told her if she came back to his boat he would do things to her that she couldn't imagine. A number of other woman also testified that Watson was obscene and persistent in his sexual comments. Watson was also in a scuffle after making comments about one mans sister.
GOLDEN HANDSHAKES: Secret golden handshakes to outgoing CEO's have today been overhauled with a new set of rules. All payouts must now be disclosed. The State Services Commission is pleased with the reforms. The changes are not retrospective.
INVADER: An 18 year old has been jailed for four years following his role in a home invasion case.
DAIRY: Dairy farmers must now decide whether to agree to a dramatic shakeup of their industry in the form of a mega Dairy Co-op merger and a deregulated domestic market. Not all farmers are keen, however, and Labour is scathing about a lack of consultation with the industry to date. Federated Farmers are telling farmers to get more information.
