1. MANA - Tuku Morgan says it is inexcusable for Maori leaders to hide
behind their culture. He was referring to the resignation of National
Party official after he was discharged from a conviction as it would
have damaged his mana.
2. HIV - A Christchurch man has admitted in the District Court of
having unprotected sex while not disclosing he had HIV.
3. POWER - The Labour party is calling for a commerce commission
inquiry into the electricity sector.
4. PRODUCER BOARDS - The Apple and Pear Board says it has reached
agreement with the Government on its split into separate bodies.
Legislation will be introduced next week.
5. CRASH - The driver of a car which crashed during a police pursuit
and injured two people has been sent to jail.
6. IRAN - The President of Iran is promising to end the pro-free
speech demonstrations in the country.
7. DRUGS - A University student has been sent to prison for trying to
smuggle ecstasy into the country.
8. WATSON - The jury in the Scott Watson trial has heard several
witnesses say he made a number of offensive statements to women.
9. SPECIAL EDUCATION - The Government has committed 29 million
dollars to schools trying to keep special education units open.
10. EAST TIMOR - The UN is urging the Indonesian Government to
improve security in the build up to the independence ballot.
11. RUGBY - The NZ Rugby Union says it is changing the way it
allocates tickets to former All Blacks after complaints they get bad
tickets.
12. CRIMINAL CRASH - An Airline maintenance firm has been blamed for
the crash of an airliner in Miami three years ago. They have been
charged with murder and manslaughter.
13. LABOUR POLICY - Labour is promising to restore industry
apprenticeships as part of its just released industrial training
policy.
14. FOG - Four flights due to land at Auckland Airport have been
diverted because of fog.
