HEALTH SCARE: Christchurch Hospital says some surgeons and staff were not told about the contamination scare until yesterday, despite having known for over two months.
REFORMS: The government has decided to back moves to control electricity prices as recommended in the Select Committee report. They now depend on the support of the Labour Party.
US SHOOTING: Seven people have been found shot dead in a US home. No motive is yet known. Five adults and two children were killed.

WATSON: The jury in the Wellington High Court heard from a security guard that Watson tried to smuggle alcohol onto the beach at Furneaux Lodge. He was denied permission to do so and drunk some on the spot. He was described as ‘half cut’.
ELECTORAL COMMISSION: Funding for political broadcasts in the general election were announced today. National and Labour both get $524,000, The Alliance gets $168,000, ACT $112,000 and New Zealand First $93,000. Parties cannot spend their own money on political broadcasts.
