POLICE SHOOTING: Mans shot dead after police car chase West of Auckland. Four occupants in car. Man points pistol at police after getting out of car. Shot by police. Alleged four men stole a car. Homicide inquiry and police complaints authority investigations are now underway. Last shooting three years ago in Auckland. Tonight area remains cordoned off.

TOURISM BOARD: Clayton's settlement for the Tourism Board payments row - say opposition. The two directors have paid back the $340,000 they were paid originally. But have got $200,000 back with an apology. Dr Smith says the government had no choice but to settle as the men could have sued.
