1. ACC STABBING: A female employee of the Accident Compensation Corporation has been stabbed to death in her office. Colleagues are in shock. Witnesses say a man demanded $350. When he didn't get what he wanted he became aggressive. The woman said she would call the police. Witness quoted offender, "by the time they get here you will be six feet under". The victim's husband is a police trainee. The body was removed from the building in Lincoln Rd Henderson this afternoon.
2. HAWKESBY AND PM: Apparently when she was off air after the interview the PM was asked why she made the comments about Hawkesby and replied "I made it all up". This has now been said outside the house and inside. Alliance MP John Wright put the question to the PM. With that continued the attack on Mrs Shipley. "Far from saying that….." the PM was interrupted "either the opposition want to hear or not." IRN Political Editor Barry Soper stands by his story that off-air the PM said she had made it up. TVNZ is refusing to comment. Chatham House rules apply to comments made by interviewees off-air they say..
3. HAWKESBY AND PM: Jane Young Live: Why does it matter? Well PM's aren't allowed to do that. She is not allowed to get away with saying something and doing another. This is going to run on if the opposition has its way.
4. DAVID BAIN: Retired Brisbane based forensic pathologist Jim Gwyn (sp?) has independently petitioned the Governor General for the pardon of David Bain. He describes the theory of the crown as bizarre. "The conclusion was reached that he was guilty and then all the evidence was interpreted to suggest he was guilty".
5. MOB INTIMIDATION: Invercargill family have sold house for a third what they paid for it and moved out - they say they have been harassed away by the Mongrel Mob. "Cops use these guys as bait for us" - says Mob member. Labour's Phil Goff says it is an outrage. "All this talk of Home Invasion in Parliament is hypocrisy in light of the case of the Lawtons."
6. SEATBELTS: LTSA is recommending that a new - apparently dangerous - kind of safety belt be approved in used car imports. It costs up to $150 to install new seatbelts at present. The LTSA says altering seatbelts can also cause danger. The Minister says a decision will be made
7. FINGER: Surgery to reattach the tip of a woman's finger lost in an accident in the Sticky Finger Restaurant has failed
8. KUMARA: Kumara fed rats less likely to develop cancer. Kumara growers are delighted.
