The Dominion leads today with a report that the Government has gone ahead with a tough new "home invasion" law despite Justice Ministry advice saying the law would not deter offenders and would increase the prison population at a cost of up to $7 million a year.
The front-page photo shows Black Caps Adam Parore and Roger Twose celebrating the win over India in the World Cup Cricket in England.

- a report that Beauty Queens are more likely than female barristers to give birth to girls, according to a study reported to the American Psychological Society;
- a report that a small but determined Russian force encamped at the airport in the Kosovo capital Pristina last night forced the Nato peacekeeping force to alter plans to set up its HQ there;
- a report that the Dominion is introducing two new cartoons, The Politician and That's Life;
- a report that police recaptured convicted murderer Michael Bullock at the Opera bar in Wellington on Saturday morning in an operation so smooth bar staff did not know it had happened. Bullock has been on the run for six years;
- a report that Auckland Healthcare has begun an investigation into how a mentally ill man fell from a fifth floor window to his death yesterday.
