BROADCASTER DIES -
A voice familiar to generations of New Zealanders has been silenced.
Peter Sinclair, a veteran broadcaster on both radio and television, died this morning after a lengthy battle with
leukaemia. He was 62. From the early days of "Let's Go", to telethons, to radio and more recently print, Sinclair
displayed a rare talent that made him a household name. He was a man for all mediums. But Peter Sinclair was perhaps
best known for his work in radio and television. Born in Australia, he came to New Zealand and worked for the NZBC in
radio, combining his perfect diction to excitedly introduce the pop music of the day. e fronted the pop music shows,
Let's Go, Happen Inn and C'mon, before moving on to more serious subjects with University Challenge and Mastermind.

IT COULD HAPPEN HERE - While there's no suggestion that the 2 renegade doctors might choose New Zealand to clone the first human being, they
could. Our law makers have yet to doctor legislation to prevent the cloning of humans, but moves are underway to close
that loophole. Manipulating human cells is standard practise at fertility clinics, but in New Zealand you won't find any
support for cloning.
RANKIN MOVES ON - The Christine Rankin file is officially closed. The government today said it will 'not' sue the former WINZ boss for the
half million dollars it cost to fight her claims in the Employment Court. And Rankin has also decided to put the saga
behind her. She won't pursue a claim of sexual harassment saying she wants to get on with her life.
PARENTS' PLEA - The parents of Teresa Cormack say it's time for the murderer to atone for his actions. Police have renewed their
investigation after a scientific breakthrough provided them with a DNA profile of the killer. At a media conference
today, Teresa's parents made a special plea to the killer. The hunt for the killer of Teresa Cormack reopened this

FUNERAL - Several hundred people attended the funeral today of George Gollan, the 14 year old driver who was killed in a car
accident in West Otago on Sunday. 14 year old Hayley Morris of Gore was also killed in the crash. Gore high school
closed early so students could go to the service, a guard of honour farewelling their dead classmate. Another of

WASTE - More than 100 tonnes of paper that should have been recycled has been dumped in a Canterbury landfill. The city's
recycling contractor was forced to bury the paper when it was unable to cope with a sudden influx. 100 tonnes is just 2
days worth of residential collection. The company, Canterbury Recycled Material Foundation says the extra paper came
from people throwing out old phone...
MEMORIAL - One of the bravest battles ever fought by New Zealand soldiers was commemorated at the Ataturk Memorial on Wellington's
bleak south coast today. Army territorials paid tribute to the Wellington infantry battalion which reached the top of
Chunuk Bair 86 years ago - and almost turned the tide of the first world war on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey.
