Air NZ – Digital TV – Knowledge Wave – Paraglider Accident
AIR NZ: Australian Deputy PM and Transport Minister John Anderson met the NZ transport Minister Mark Gosche and finance minister Michael Cullen to discuss the future of Air NZ. Singapore Airlines wants to increase its stake in Air NZ. Qantas wants Singapore to sell its stake to Qantas.
DIGITAL TV: Pay TV operator Telstra Saturn has put on hold plans to launch a combined digital TV service with TVNZ. The decision comes as Telstra Australia tightens its belt. TVNZ was surprised at the decision. Questions were asked in Parliament about the cost today.
KNOWLEDGE WAVE: The Catching the Knowledge Wave conference, designed to set the course for the future of New Zealand’s economy, is underway in Auckland.
PARAGLIDER ACCIDENT: Nicola Collins, the 12-year-old Christchurch girl who survived a 40-metre fall from a paraglider, remains in a serious condition in hospital. Her father says she was never properly secured in the harness. The family says they want a decent inquiry into safety procedures of operators.
