FIJI MURDERS: Fiji Police say they have evidence that Fiji Red Cross Director and his New Zealand lover Greg Scrivener
sexually exploited Fiji youths, as a man appeared in court in Suva charged with the murder of the two men. Police say
they have found incriminating tapes and photographs. The family of Gregory Scrivener emphatically deny the allegations.
GEORGE SPEIGHT: The preliminary hearing of the treason case against Fiji coup leader George Speight and his associates
has been adjourned again, and will resume on Wednesday.
CHRISTINE RANKIN: The Crown has wound up their defence in the Christine Rankin case, saying Mrs Rankin should never have
expected to have been re-appointed. The final witness for the defence, Associate Social Services Minister Ruth Ryson,
said the issue was not clothing, fashion or sexual politics, but performance. She said she did not recall Social
Services Minister Steve Maharey criticising Mrs Rankin’s dress style. She said she had always found Mr Maharey
politically correct.
HOROMIA’S HOUSE: Maori Affairs Minister Parekura Horomia has been embarrassed as a Tologa Bay property he is trustee for
has been declared unfit for habitation, as the Government announced plans to get tough on landlords with substandard
properties.
BODY FOUND: Police are no longer treating the discovery of a body near Wellington as suspicious. They now think it is
the body of an Upper Hutt man missing for 2 years.
CHARLIE SAXTON: Former All Black Charlie Saxton, who died at 88, was farewelled in Dunedin today.
JERRY COLLINS: A rugby fan is threatening to take All Black No 8 Jerry Collins to court after Collins allegedly punched
him.
