MICHAEL BOTTRIL: Dr Michael Bottril, the man at the centre of the Gisborne cervical cancer inquiry, has today won an
appeal preventing a former patient, known as ‘Patient A’, suing him. Phillida Bunkle says Dr Bottrill has gotten off
scot-free. The decision comes as more than 50 women are seek comp from Government for misread cervical smear tests.
HEALTH BOSSES: Health Minister Annette King is defending opposition claims she is trying to gag health board chiefs.
Some health bosses say they feel they have effectively been gagged.
BEN THORNE: Meanwhile, a settlement has been made in the case of Ben Thorne, who died in knee operation, although the
hospital denies any wrongdoing.

business went bust, has been convicted of contributing to his own insolvency.

SUPER FUND: The Government’s plan to put money aside to fund national superannuation looks set to go ahead, after a
meeting with NZ First. National Finance Spokesman Bill English says National is still undecided about whether it will
vote for the bill or not.
