COPTER CRASH INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY: Accident investigators are going to investigate the possibility of a connection
between three recent helicopter accidents, the latest of which killed three near Taumaranui. All three crashed copters
are ex-military. The pilot of the latest crashed copter was a fire fighting hero. The three who died yesterday were
employed by Wanganui Aeroworks. The three ex-military choppers all came from overseas.
LION NATHAN SHARE DECISION: Lion Nathan has been found to have breached stock exchange rules when it purchased a
controlling stake in Montana Wines. This is the first decision of its kind in NZ. Lion Nathan may have to give up a big
stake in Montana as a result. Presently Lion Nathan has 62% of Montana. Lion Nathan has 30 days to respond to the
ruling, and remedy it. There is no appeal right. Allied Domecq says it believes the ruling applies to up to 30% of the
shares it owns.
NEPAL WARNING: MFAT has issued a warning about travelling to Nepal in the wake of the shooting of the royal family.
Gangs of youths today clashed with police, accusing the new king of involvement in the murders of his family. There was
no sign of jubilation during the procession to the coronation of the new king.
LANDLORD FINED: A court has fined two landlords a record $40,500 for renting a slum garage for $180 a week. The
accommodation, a converted garage, suffered from leaks, faulty electrical circuits and cockroach infestation.
DYSON RETURNS: Labour MP Ruth Dyson rejoined Ministerial ranks today seven months after being caught drink driving.
Dyson says the message is clear, you shouldn’t drink and drive, I hope what has happened to me helps. Dyson says she is
keen on getting back to work as a minister outside Cabinet. She is not interested in discussing how she got into trouble
in the first time.
TRANZRAIL: TranzRail has unveiled a new look to its trains today, painting them black and yellow, to make them more
obvious. TranzRail is spending $11 million on painting and re-equipping its trains with brighter lights and louder
horns. An American executive says this is one of several safety initiatives the company is undertaking. A further $15
million will be needed to upgrade the full fleet of TranzRail locomotives.
PEANUT ALLERGIES: British scientists have found a link between eczema and peanut allergies. A link has been found with
some peanut oil eczema creams, and children with allergies. Doctors are warning parents not to use peanut oil based
eczema treatment products on children.
HERBAL SEX BOOSTER: A herbal preparation called Argenmax claims to put the zest back in users sex lives.
