- GRASS SKIRT: Matthew Schofield was sentenced to two years jail today for the manslaughter of Gareth McFadyn. But the
family of Gareth McFadyn, who died after his synthetic grass skirt was set alight by Matthew Schofield at a Merryl Lynch
Christmas party, say what they really wanted was an apology. The judge said that while Matthew Schofield didn’t intend
to kill the man and was just pulling a prans, he still killed a man and caused distress to family and friends. Gareth
McFadyn was a young achiever, having a successful career in shares and was a talented sportsman.
- DASH-8: The Crown has opened its case in the trial of Gary Sutheran, the pilot charged with manslaughter and injuring
relating to the death of four people on the Ansett Dash-8 plane he was piloting six years ago.
- ANZAC FLIGHTS: Anzac day tomorrow will see Qantas Australia deploying another 767 in New Zealand to help shift the
passenger stranded by the collapse of Qantas NZ.

belonging to a New Zealand POW was handed back by a German soldier. The family of soldier Bill Lumes received the watch
with a letter from the family of the German soldier.
