People’s Bank – FBI Spy – Jamieson Murder – Rachel Filming
- PEOPLE’S BANK: Richard Prebble has been ordered to shut up about the people’s bank, but the secrets keep coming. NZ Post has obtained an interim injunction to stop him revealing more of the people’s bank business plan. He is still releasing more, because he is protected by absolute privilege when speaking in parliament. Mr Prebble’s revelations prompted the Greens to go to Post for more information – the information he revealed today showed the Bank would be competing with credit unions and community banks, which the Greens sought an assurance wouldn’t happen when the Government went to them for support. NZ Post’s bank plans have affected their credit rating, because of the extra risk to its business. Some rural areas are unhappy they may not get people’s bank services, although the bank promises to have more outlets than any other bank.
- FBI SPY: One of the FBI’s most senior agents has been arrested, charged with selling American secrets to Russia. Documents suggest he was an agent for Russia for 15 years, motivated by money. The charges could carry the death penalty. The FBI got its first tip only four months ago.
- JAMIESON MURDER: Police hunting the killer of Marie Jamieson have a few more clues in their search. They say they are confident of finding the murderer. Police now know she was not killed where her body was found. They are trying to find a blue bag, which they say is a vital piece of evidence. A remembrance service will be held in the Auckland Domain tomorrow.
- RACHEL FILMING: Rachel Hunter has just started shooting her ninth movie in West Auckland. Her co-star is a Koala, and she has to speak in an American accent. She apparently keeps slipping into her kiwi accent because she’s at home. Joan Collins is still to arrive. The movie is due out next summer.
