VETS STRIKE: The Agriculture Minister agrees with the PM that the claims of striking vets are preposterous. The Minister
says there is absolutely no excuse for the dispute. The union says that the Minister has been badly briefed by his
officials.
KIWI BANK: The PM is indicating that a person suspected of leaking information on the People’s Bank to the National
Party is likely to be named in Parliament today.
SPECIAL EDUCATION: A spokesman for the School Trustees Association says that some of the changes to the SES system will
make it easier for schools.
BODY NEARLY IDENTIFIED: Police are almost certain that a body found in Henderson, Auckland is that of Marie Jamieson who
went missing 10 days ago.
DEPLETED URANIUM: The Defence Force may make NZ soldiers compulsorily answer a questionnaire on the handling of depleted
uranium. All soldiers have received the questionnaire but only 20% of them have been returned.
GLOBAL WARMING: Scientists say rising global temperatures will leave millions of people in starvation in coming years.
The scientists say other things like European floods, water shortages and US hurricanes will be in the increase.
BRAZIL PRISON REBELLION: The last of more than 7000 hostages in Brazil’s biggest prison rebellion are being released.
The rebellion broke out when visitors and guards were taken hostage at 27 prisons.
ABUSED CHILDREN: Professional decision makers involved in dealing with abused children need to talk to children at their
own developmental level says someone involved in the field.
MEDICAL SCHOOLS: The Chancellor of Otago University says he wants problems at Wellington Medical School resolved
quickly. Several staff have resigned recently at the school citing staffing difficulties.
