INDECISION 2000: A judge has denied a motion for an injuction to allow late filing of Florida county election results.
This is a major blow to the democrats. In another development the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board has decided to
suspend its hand count. Mr Bush leads Gore by 338 votes in the count.
APEC: Leaders of the 21 APEC economies begin their summit in Brunei today. The challenge says Helen Clark is for the
group to prove its worth by raising everybodies living standards. Miss Clark says there needs to be a commitment to a
resumption of WTO trade talks.
RELATIONSHIP PROPERTY BILL: Redrafted laws affecting the division of property on relationship break-up appears to have
support in Parliament with a majority voting to send the bill on to its next stage.
TREATY CLAUSES: The Associate Health Minister Tariana Turia says she supports changes to the Treaty Clause in Health and
Disability legislation.
ACC COPTER CONTROVERSY: ACC says it does not accept it has misled its minister with claims about the accident rate of
the Northland emergency helicopter. CAA says the copter has only had a few minor incidents not three serious accidents
as claimed by ACC. An ACC spokesman says sucking a beach umbrella into its rotors and getting stuck in the sand are
serious.
AUSTRIAN TRAIN FIRE: Austrian investigators say they think a mountain train caught fire before it entered a tunnel
killing more than 159.
TUROA SALE: The Mayor of the Ruapehu District says news that Turoa and Whakapapa ski-fields will merge will make it
easier to narket the district to tourists.
