PALESTINIAN ARRESTS: Israel radio say Eight Palestinians have been arrested for the lynching of two Israeli soldiers.
The Palestinians deny they have been involved in any arrests.
PART TIME DETENTION: Get tough on crime petitioner Norm Withers says he supports part time jail for some criminals.
UK RAIL CRASH: A broken rail has been found at the site of a rail accident in the UK where four people were killed.
WEST PAPUA: Police in the Indonesian province of Papua have extended the deadline for the lowering of the Morning Star
flag by independence supporters.
BOY MISSING: A police dive team and helicopter are involved in the search for an 11-month-old boy in the Lake Wairarapa
area. A 39-year-old woman will appear in court today in relation to the incident.
CURRENCIES: The Kiwi, Australian and Euro currencies all dropped to new record lows overnight. Meanwhile sharemarkets
around the world have fallen sharply with worries about tech stocks. IBM has been the latest company to warn that sales
are slowing down. Prices in NY have since recovered much lost ground.
ONE TREE HILL: The Mayor of Auckland says One Tree on One Tree Hill may have to come down soon. She says it is sad the
tree has to go.
ASIAN GROWTH: NZ Businesses are being urged to chase their share of growth in Asia in coming years.
