BUSINESS SUMMIT: The chairman of the Business Round Table says the government’s decision to exclude the NZBRT and others
could blunt the effectiveness of the business summit. The PM says the summit will not be about reciting National Party
mantras.
SUPER: The Government will today unveil its stand-alone superannuation fund plans. The plan will involve syphoning off
surpluses into a fund to pay future super payments.
YUGOSLAVIA: The EU is lifting a number of sanctions against Yugoslavia as a sign of support in new President Kostunica.
The oil and travel embargoes have been lifted immediately. Other sanctions remain in place. Aid officials are also to be
sent to Belgrade.
SOLOMON ISLANDS: A new round of Solomon Islands peace-talks gets underway in Townsville in Northern Queensland today .
Meanwhile tourists have been warned not to travel to the Solomons again.
HEART SURGERY: Cardiologists say more resources and operating theatres are the only way to reduce heart surgery waiting
lists. Officials say the situation at Greenlane is odd because the hospital has had increased funding.
HIV MAN LOOSE: The police are concerned about the whereabouts of Christopher Truscott a Christchurch man who is HIV
positive, who has been known to have unprotected sex, and who is supposed to be in protective custody.
