- DOLLAR PLUNGE: Financial markets went into a spin yesterday with the dollar falling below US40 cents for the first time ever and the share market diving to its lowest level in almost two years.
- MURDER-SUICIDE: No one could have foreseen that Rosemary Perkin would kill her three daughters and take her own life, the lawyer acting for the girls’ father said last night.
- TELECOMMUNICATIONS INQUIRY: Kiwis could save $328 million a year in telecommunications costs if the Government adopted a regulatory regime proposed by the ministerial inquiry into communications.
- DAMAGED VEHICLES TO NZ: Flood damaged vehicles, many contaminated with raw sewage, were on their way to New Zealand from Japan, the Independent Motor Vehicle Dealers Association said yesterday.
