FRENCH PETROL PROTESTS: The French Government is talking to truck drivers about a blockade of petrol haulage that has
nearly brought France to a halt. Petrol rationing has been introduced in several areas. The Fina-Elf petrol company says
it expects 90% of its stations to be empty by the end of today.
MILLENNIUM SUMMIT: North Korea has pulled out of the NY Millennium Summit after a confrontation with US security
officials in Frankfurt.
DAIRY BOARD: The Dairy Board has bought a controlling share in a Brazillian milk-products company. The deal cost around
$300 million and will cost a further investment of a similar sum.
AUS PLANE CRASH: Police in Australia say two NZers died in a strange plane accident in Australia, they were Brett
Hewett, 31, and Roger Clarkson, 30.
INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT: NZ has ratified an International Criminal Court Treaty by passing relevant legislation.
NZ’s ratification brings to 15 the number of countries who have ratified. A further 45 ratifications are needed to bring
the court treaty into effect.
