DOVER SAMUELS: Dover Samuels Lawyer Peter Williams says he has a tape of a phonecall from Chris Carter to an unamed person, in which Chris Carter is allegedly digging dirt on Samuels. The PM Helen Clark will make a statement today on events surrounding the sacking of her former Maori Affairs Minister.
TELECOMMS INQUIRY: The country’s second largest mobile phone company is questioning the aims of the Telecommunications Inquiry currently underway. Vodaphone thinks that mobile phones should be looked at second, after the local loop.
NURSE SHORTAGE: The Nurses Organisation says the HFA’s move over Wellington Hospital’s nursing shortage indicates that more effort needs to be made to retain specialist nurses.
BATTERED MURDERERS: The Law Commission says the law should be changed to provide adequate defences to murder for battered defendants.
WILD FIRES: More heat and wind is forecast for Montana and Idaho where NZ fire fighters are helping to fight a huge number of wild fires.
KASHMIR: 12 people have died and another 52 have been injured in a series of bomb blasts in Jammu and Kashmir.
JOANNE MCCARTHY MURDER: The defence will resume its closing arguments in the trial of Travis Burns for the murder of teacher Joanne McCarthy.
QUEENSTOWN AIRPORT: Queenstown airport has reopened following the cancellation of several jet flights because of cracks in the runway.
AIR POLUTION: The Auckland Regional Council is cracking down on cars emitting excessive exhaust fumes.
