Tama Iti In Fiji Bomb Scare - Fiji Coup & Hostage PM - Fiji, Journos Held - Gavin Dash Body Found - Dover Samuels Political Future - Mount Cook Airport Destroyed
TAMA ITI IN FIJI BOMB SCARE: An Air New Zealand 767 is at the centre of a bomb scare. The plane is back on the ground in Nandi airport and Maori activist Tama Iti is was on the plane. The activist was earlier denied access by immigration officials after he came into the islands to visit to show his support for coup leader George Speight,. The activist and his party are currently being questioned by Fijian military and officials.
FIJI COUP & HOSTAGE PM: The first pictures of deposed Fijian Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry since the coup began have come from the Parliament grounds. Mr. Chaudhry was seen walking with his son, they were not allowed to talk and his body language showed the stress of his imprisonment.
FIJI, JOURNOS HELD: Meanwhile as the military step up the pressure on the Fiji coup members George Speight has temporarily held some journalists in the compound, not letting them escape in what is believed to be a political stunt.
GAVIN DASH BODY FOUND: Police have found the badly decomposed body of missing law student Gavin Dash in the Karori area. His body was believed to have been cut up after he was murdered. A twenty-six-year old man has been arrested in connection with the murder. His name suppression was ended today.
DOVER SAMUELS POLITICAL FUTURE: Dover Samuels has tonight agreed to attend a tribal hui in Waitangi where his political future as an MP is likely to be challenged.
MOUNT COOK AIRPORT DESTROYED: Mt. Cook Airport is a smouldering wreck this morning after a fire last night completely destroyed the control tower and terminal.
