FIJI COUP - AIR NZ BOMB SCARE: Tame Iti will be wishing he never left NZ. This afternoon he was on his way home to NZ
when a bomb scare led to the place being sent back. Tame Iti was earlier refused entry to Fiji – his second trip. Air NZ
says the threat was made to the airport in Nandi. The plane has since been checked and given an all clear.
FIJI COUP - GEORGE SPEIGHT REMAINS DEFIANT: The Military is setting up an exclusion zone around the Parliament tonight.
People are getting out of the houses around Parliament. The exclusion zone hasn’t yet been imposed but residents have
already started leaving. One of those leaving is a NZ diplomat. The rebels remain defiant and have threatened the
hostages lives again. Speight warns that anger against the army is growing among his supporters. The army has always
maintained that they will not attack. But now the option appears to be open. According to an officer some soldiers are
itching for a fight.
GAVIN DASH: Police have found part of Wellington student Gavin Dash’s body in the hills behing Karori. A man has been
charged with the murder and remanded for psychiatric assessment.
LICENSE INQUIRY: Grey Power gathered today to hear from the PM about license costs for older, commercial and new
drivers. Mark Gosche says that people have been treated insensitively during the changes. A Wellington woman battling
against the scheme wants more. The independent review will report in November.
DOVER HUI: The Hui to discuss Dover Samuels is being held anyway at Waitangi whether or not Samuels turns up. Kingi
Taurua says that preparations were too advanced to cancel. Samuels says he is not intending to be abused by Titewhai
Harewira. If Samuels decides not to go he may call a hui of his own to thank those who have stood by him.
INDONESIA: 500 refugees are feared drowned following the sinking of a boat fleeing violence in Anbon, Indonesia.
ASPIRIN STUDY: An Asprin Study says that it is not as good for your heart as thought.
COFFEE: Even small amounts of coffee can cause headaches, anxiety and tiredness. An Australian report made these
findings when considering the importation of Red Bull. Coffee drinkers are not impressed with the findings.
