DOVER SAMUELS: National’s acting leader Wyatt Creech says the PM’s handling of the Dover Samuels case raises questions about her judgment. Mr Creech says the PM should have asked the police to investigate when the issue of Mr Samuels conduct first arose. Meanwhile Mrs Clark says that she believes she did the right thing at the time. She says she was not aware that the young woman was under the care of Mr Samuels.
FIJI COUP: George Speight says a couple of remaining issues are leading to negotiations being dragged out over the hostages.
AUCKLAND MEETING: A meeting of 28 central and local body politicians and officials in Auckland’s Town Hall will today cover issues importance to Auckland.
WINTER ILLS: Winter ills are causing troubles in Auckland hospitals. Auckland A has just had its busiest month ever. Patients have been treated on stretchers in corridors. North Shore Hospital is hoping there will be no flu epidemic.
HEART MEDICINE: When 26,000 patients changed their heart medicine, 2800 suffered adverse symptoms and13 people died, but a researcher says the deaths cannot be necessarily attributed to the change in the drug by Pharmac.
DEATH TRUCK: The Dutch driver of the truck containing 58 dead Chinese immigrants found at Dover has been charged with manslaughter. The two survivors are in hiding as their lives are believed to be in danger.
ZIMBABWE: Zimbabwe’s opposition party the MDC says another one of its supporters has been killed in the run up to the election.
MONEY LAUNDERING: 15 countries have been accused in Paris of being uncooperative in the fight against money lending. Russia, Israel, Lebanon and the Bahamas are on the list. The black-list includes the Cook Islands and Nuie.
