CARGO OF DEATH: Immigration officers in Britain found a grisly scene yesterday when 48 bodies were found on a lorry at the port of Dover. The bodies are believed to belong to Chinese migrants who were trying to illegally enter Britain.
WINZ SHAKEUP: The Department of Work And Income has been told to change its corporate culture of extravagance and turn around its performance. WINZ Boss Christine Rankin has kept her job but is stripped of some of her powers, and must work more closely with other public service heads.
WAREHOUSE SPREADS: The New Zealand department store The Warehouse is spreading its wings buying two department stores in Australia.
FLETCHER PROSPECTS: Gas prospector Fletcher Energy has found another large gas reserve in its Pohokura-2 well. The well should replace the main natural gas reservoir supplying New Zealand when it runs out this century.
TANKER RUPTURES: A petrol tanker and trailer involved in a collision near Greymouth ruptured and spread over 3000 litres of flammable fuel into the town.
TODD ALLEGATIONS: The English press has failed to pick up on the allegations made about NZ Equestrian star Mark Todd in a British weekend tabloid.
