SLOW DOWN: The PM has ordered a slow down in major reforms as her government confronts business. The edict has gone out from the PM. Michael Cullen says the major driver in business confidence is interest rates.
FIJI COUP: Negotiations between the military and the gunmen at Parliament will resume today after the military deferred the appointment of the new Interim government.
FIJI COUP: Rebel Spokesman Joe Nata has told RNZ that the hostages are the only things they have to bargain with and that is why they are not releasing them.
STUDENT ALLOWANCES: The Government does not think it will be able to get to universal student allowances in place in its first term in office.
PM’S TRIP: The PM is on her way to Germany for an influential summit with world leaders.
ERITREA: The Ethiopian PM has declared the war with Eritrea is over.
MORGAN FAHEY: Dr Mrgan Fahey will be sentenced in the Christchurch High Court today.
LAW FRAUD: The head of the organisation set up by the Law Society to investigate fraud in Law Firms is working well, the head of the unit says.
JOCK BARNES: The man who was a key figure in the 1951 water strike – Jock Barnes – died in Auckland yesterday aged 92. Barnes claimed the strike was a lock –out.
TOY GUNS: Musical chairs may be getting the thumbs down from some educators. But the latest Times educations supplement says toy guns may have some merit.
